With just over a month before the inaugural Score for the Cure event - to be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Revolution Ice Gardens in Warminster, Pennsylvania - organizers announced today that SERVPRO of Upper Bucks has stepped up as the event’s Title Sponsor.
Score for the Cure, Inc.’s Nicole Skaro said of the announcement, “SERVPRO of Upper Bucks has dedicated countless hours, endless creativity, and many generous donations to the efforts of Score for the Cure from day one. Sean, SERVPRO’S co-owner, and co-founder of this event, has been dedicated to the success of this effort in a way that motivates all of us on a daily basis. We are so grateful and fortunate to have the support of his entire team for this event and now to be able to call them our Title Sponsor is truly exciting.”
McCabe and members from his staff including Marketing Director Robyn Colajezzi, Marketing & Business Development Representative Amanda O’Connor, and Marketing & Events Coordinator Rebecca Herman have each been active in organizing Score for the Cure presented by SERVPRO of Upper Bucks from the start. In fact, McCabe was part of the initial impetus for the event.
“I am so proud of what we’ve started and accomplished so far. I am honored to be the Title Sponsor,” McCabe said. “This event has been a labor of love from the start - combining something I’m passionate about, ice hockey, and something that has deeply affected people I care about, Type 1 Diabetes. My team and I are committed to doing everything we can to make this event a success and to raise funds to support the critical work of JDRF in fighting T1D and working to find a cure.”
Score for the Cure presented by SERVPRO of Upper Bucks is an ice hockey tournament that will take place August 14 at Revolution Ice Gardens in Warminster, PA. The tournament will also include a 5K race, family fun activities, delicious food, live music, and more. Proceeds will go to fund the research and advocacy initiatives conducted by JDRF. Black Bear Sports Group has donated the full usage of their rink for this event which will take over the entire complex that day. As a thank you to the Black Bear Sports Group, part of the proceeds will be directed to Black Bear Foundation to support youth in their pursuit to play hockey that otherwise would not be able.
How you can participate: If you would like to register for or donate to the event (or both!), we invite you to do so through our JDRF fundraiser page at www.scoreforthecure.com. Some players are still waiting for sponsors and your donation could make the difference. Simply visit the JDRF website and search “Score for the Cure'' to join our cause. The goal is to raise $50,000 before August 14 and every dollar brings us closer to that goal.
About Type 1 Diabetes: Type 1 Diabetes typically develops in children and adolescents, but it can also develop in adults. Various factors, such as genetics and viruses, can contribute to the development of this disease, but it has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Those afflicted with Type 1 diabetes must suffer through insulin injections, disruptive glucose monitoring, and sleepless nights while carefully balancing their eating and activity. Living with Type 1 diabetes grants no days off and there is no cure.
About JDRF: JDRF has been a global leader in the search for the cure to Type 1 Diabetes for over 40 years. They also work to improve the lives of every person living with Type 1 Diabetes until they arrive at that goal. JDRF focuses primarily on developing cure therapies and treatment therapies and researching preventative therapies for the disease.
